At first I thought that little cute mouse-butt was a flower! I love that you have combined both topics into such a sweet, sweet illo! I just want to squeeze that bunny :) Oh...and the colors are divine!
Haha, I wanted to say something about the cute mouse butt, too! So cute and cutely framed by the pink tutu. I just love the flowers and foliage too, so delicate and full of great shapes. And super cute Peet! (Can't leave Peet out!)
Hello Mardi:) I love this kind of paintings! That little mouse is so cute crowling to the hidden space inviting his friend to come too! Beautiful with all these flowers and very nice colors. Great job, love it!
Just the right balance of color & white in such a cool, summery scene! Once again, Buttercup is stealing the show - this time by flashing us her cute butt!
The best thing here is your interplay between the gesture and the specific. It's very satisfying to see how little is used to give us a very intricate environment... those flowers and grasses (especially on the left side) are, on closer inspection, really not there... You imply very well. Coming in second is your usual skill at telling a story and expressing emotion with ease.
nice how the vines up above weave into a heart shape.

ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful Secret Space! The foliage is so lush...it feels like summer. I'm enjoying the painting with all its transparencies and the story too.

ReplyDeleteYou know where my peaceful sanctuary is where I escape all my worldly cares? The garage, of course. Guess it's a guy thing.
ReplyDeleteVery nice piece, Mardi.
Beautiful, beautiful illustration! Gorgeous colours and a lovely little bunny. I can imagine this is a VERY secret space.
ReplyDeleteIt's great the way you found to get together both words.
ReplyDeleteI bet it's a great place that they can share with eachother :)
Beautiful.
Can we all go? I'll bring a picnic, with tea and bread and butter...
