The transport device was just up ahead. It sat, twinkling in the sun, making the eeriest sounds. First it seemed tortured and wailing, then changed to an odd gurgling. We moved in for a closer look and soon found ourselves locking eyes with an alien life form. (Incidentally, we thought it rather curious looking … not a speck of fur on it, or a tail. Still, it wiggled a bit.) Something about it's gaze though, made us feel all sun-shiny on the inside.

Oh they really are little aliens, aren't they? How utterly sweet that you show P & B just peeking in! This could SO be a greeting card!! Yay, Mardi! This is GREAT!
ReplyDeleteOhhhh this is one of the sweetest illustrations ever! I love all the context you put into the IF choosen word. It's really adorable. One of my favourites, no doubt!
ReplyDeleteHello Mardi:) I just wanted to say what Elizabeth en Fados already said:) They knew it!
ReplyDeleteHaha, what a great tale to go with the illustration! And you always come up with some new adorable pose for one or the other (or both) to get into. Beautiful old-fashioned carriage, too! I would like to hang out with these two one day. So much adventure!
ReplyDeleteAwwww, what a cute close in encounter ;) Adorable!!!
ReplyDeleteAwwww...... So innocent and charming.
ReplyDeleteFunny story to go with a beautiful illustration. I love what you've captured.
ReplyDeleteSo cute!! Lovely illustration and great story!! :)
ReplyDeleteI think Elizabeth is right, this would make a great card. It makes me smile :)
ReplyDeleteThis is adorable and perfect for the face of a baby shower card. (anybody you know expecting?)
ReplyDeleteThe circular elements and movement make for a stable yet energetic composition
Absolutely charming :)
ReplyDeleteThis is just too adorable - love the little mouse (and her skirt.... cute!!)
ReplyDeleteHa ha! I love how Buttercup is perched above, peering in upsidedown!
ReplyDeleteyou're storytelling again.
ReplyDeleteI'll bet that you could simply show your illustration without the writing and it would still communicate well. You're very good at telling stories visually, even when simple and concise.
This one is a meal in itself. Well balanced and nutritious, and a complete protein to boot. It's held together nicely by the critter's postures as they lace themselves into their mystery... Again Buttercup is the visual star, but this time Peet holds his own too.
~~the 'smiley' carriage is a nice touch.
this is the back cover of one your upcoming books.
.
Cute! I like your use of line weight.
ReplyDeleteAdorable. I love the old-fashioned pram.
ReplyDeleteAnother wonderful illustration. I love following these two pals on their journey through your illustrations and the adventures they have. I always look forward to your entries to IF. :)
ReplyDeleteLove this...the round composition and the way you've positioned everything do a great of directing the eye into the baby carriage. We can almost see the baby in there!
ReplyDeleteThey are adorable!Great colors:)
