Oh that is so beautiful! I love how the rabbit's eyes are not quiet closed like he's trying not to fall asleep. Still thinking about the good night they've had.
Several years ago I saw this scene with my own eyes: we had our rabbit in the backyard in a quite big "paddock" with a small wooden cage. One day we noticed the rabbit had a visitor : a small white rodent ( perhaps big mouse or small rat! ) For a several days they were really very close friends - not only eating together from one bowl but also sleeping together as on your drawing. It was amazing to see how they collaborated peacefully together....
Oh my gosh! I don't have kids but if I did I would want a giant poster of this to hang over their bed. Heck, I would probably hang one over my bed. They just look so darn sweet and cozy and seriously cute, and how could one fail to have sweet dreams if that is the last thing they see before sleep?
Mardi, you have the knack of presenting the sweetest and warmest moments which make me glow inside. The sensitivity to the drawing and painting of the noses and body gestures is so delicate and right.
The echo of heaviness of Peet's eyes to his muzzle flattening on the floor is spot on! This and the value structure of the colors you used create a constellation of drowsiness I think is hard to beat. And then there's Buttercup and HER echoes. Her curled toes repeat her curled body... --giving us the snug factor. Do you plan all this? Or does it just flow out of you?
Awww...so sweet!
ReplyDeletethank you, Michele!
