IF … Hibernate

©2011 Mardi Speth All Rights Reserved • Watercolour & Ink
As you know, Peet & Buttercup have been hibernating for quite awhile now.
Truly, there's nothing better than a good, long nap.
A hot drink with a side of biscotti is always a welcomed interruption,
so long as it's followed by another nice nap.

Actually, the reason for my recent blog inactivity involves exciting news ~ I'm having a show in December! This will be my first solo performance and will feature Peet and Buttercup. Planning and prepping new pieces, developing a promo, and putting together a REAL website (so I can sell prints) is taking a lot of my time of late. The bottom line reality is, the weekly IF prompt may only get developed to the thumbnail stage, until time opens up toward the end of the year. To this end, I look forward to trying out a new, loose style for IF starting later this week. I hope you'll enjoy it too.

  2. You appear to have outdone yourself here.
This is quite loaded with information and visual delights, but you've managed to choreograph them so they all support one another, rather than confuse the picture plane and congest the composition.
Nice touch making Buttercup surrounded by cools, and the rest of the place warm --paralleling Peet's attentions.
Cozy and inviting all at once.

The nic~nacs are fun to dissect; they further one's understanding of who Buttercup is. My favorites are the drawings taped to the wall. (Evidently subjects near and dear to her).
I'm not sure what to think of the bunny slippers though. Does Peet have mousie toe-warmers?

  4. This wouldn't look out of place in Brambly Hedge!
A beautiful image that children can spend time over, looking at all the details. I am sure your prints will become very popular, so good luck with your new website.

  5. Thank you, my friends.

To Richard ... Peet just left for the haberdashery. With his proclivity to hats I wouldn't be surprised if he returns with Mickey Mouse ears. He can roll his up and stuff them inside to keep 'em warm. Haha!

To June ... Jill Barklem was my inspiration for creating this cozy scene. Her work is fabulous. After this exercise, I realize I haven't the patience for all those little details.
