IF … Swept

It was a perfect night for a drive. Clear and crisp. Or rather, clear and below freezing. So of course, we took the Beetle. After all, if you can't ride with the top down and feel the wind rushing through your fur, what's the point of having a head?

  1. She woke up!

...or is she still sleeping there in the passenger seat? hmmmm... perhaps we've gained access to her dreamworld?
    ~future posts will surely tell.

There's a cool interplay between balance and rhythm not usually pulled into your compositions; nice how one feeds off the other! Also nice how the swirls and stars sweep into each other and create the dreamlike dance.

must be nice to have your own Chitty-chitty~squeak-squeak to take off in anytime the mood strikes.

  2. Pure magic, I want to get swept up into the moon too. Oddly, in the wonder of all the swirls I'm enjoying the way you handled the underside of the car and the silhouette of the rabbit and mouse.

I bet those long ears flapped noisily when they got the Beetle's speed up!

  7. There is a nice energy to the piece as well as a dreamlike quality with the rhythmic swirls. The car is suspended in an anticipated moment of magical suspense.

The colors are lovely and I enjoy being swept along within the swirls of your imagination

  8. Thank you, my friends, for your kind words! I find it perplexing that when I complete an illo, it never lives up to what's in my mind's eye. The work seems to take on a life of its own. When I post, I usually feel ambivalent about the work, yet after a few days it starts to grow on me. (Probably a result of your nice feedback). Does anyone else experience this?

  9. Ooh, this reminds me of Harry Potter. (But then again, I'm a fanatic, practically everything does!)

I really love how you did the clouds for this piece. I've experimented with swirly skies in the past, but I've never been able to get such a gorgeous, subtle effect as you have here.
