  3. I love the sense of intrepidation, and the very long fuse :o)

    But... where is Mouse?
Maybe it is too noisy and scary for Mouse.

  4. Thank you, friends! Night scenes are a challenge, but I'm enjoying the wonders of black gouache. Mouse is home under the covers with a pillow over her head. Kabooms are way too big and scary for her little ears.

  6. Well.
That Black gouache is perfect for the mood... dark, but not murky; I like how the bushes in the back fuzz out into the night.
You've achieved a nice sense of depth with the black and other contrasts, and both the characters and environment massage each other into coziness; we've got it all here: detail≈vagueness, fear≈humor, cuteness≈seriousness...
Makes one want to stop whatever your doing and join in the fun!
    ~unless you're a mouse I guess...

  8. Mardi, wonderful staging and storytelling! The use of the foreground pulls me into the piece...if fact I feel as if I'm hiding in the bushes watching all this unfold.

  9. How the oldest one is apprehensively lighting the fuse and the middle one is unknowingly smiling up at him. He doesn't even look at his hand. I think that could exactly happen like that. (Says a mother of three little boys who wishes it will never happen like that).
    Well made!!

  14. I'm catching up on a couple of week's worth of IF entries, and these are two of my faves, but then I always look forward to visiting your work. You always have such a wonderful, magical quality to your pieces. The light against the night sky, the bottle rocket in the foreground...Beautiful!
